I am so excited to partner with Katie Design and CultureMap for their Holiday Pop Up Shop on Sunday December 7th from 12-6pm at Silver St. Studios.  I have actually known Katie for over a year and have been following her brand as it gets bigger and bigger.  Not only is she an amazing interior designer but she also wrote a book this year that is truly inspiring and has so many things in the works.  These are just a few of my favorite things!  If you still haven’t ordered your tickets to the pop up shop, get them now – Katie will be there showing new pieces that are not even on her website.

Wine-ing and Dining

There is nothing I like more after a week of meetings and events than having a night in, opening a bottle (or two) of wine and cooking a meal with my boyfriend.  Since we are always both so busy it’s always a good way for us to wind down and actually enjoy a meal.   Lately I have been very into cooking and eating healthy so there are a lot of kale salads in my life right now.  Last night I just wanted something light and decided to make an easy kale salad.  I like white wines with salads so I chose to try the Kendall Jackson K-J AVANT Chardonnay.  It is described as fresh/crisp/clean, which is perfect for a light salad.

Chopped Kale
Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper
Grilled Chicken
Sunflower Seeds/Pumpkin Seeds
Sliced Almonds
Parmesan Cheese

What I always like to do first is wash the kale and massage with olive oil and lemon.  It softens the kale so that the texture is not as tough – set this aside while you grill the chicken.  Lightly mist the grill or pan with olive oil, while it’s heating up sprinkle the chicken breast with salt and pepper to your liking and put on the grill or pan.  Slice up the avocado and shave the Parmesan.  When the chicken is done, put over the kale and add all the extras.  I use the seeds and almonds as a substitute for croutons – it adds crunch to the salad.  Shaved Parmesan goes on top and toss with a little vinegar if you like it.  Pour yourself a glass if you haven’t already and enjoy.

Flow Juice Bar | Houston

I began juicing a little over a year ago on my quest to become a healthier person and have been obsessed ever since.  This past Christmas after receiving a juicer as a gift my obsession grew a little more and while I do juice at home, sometimes it is just easier to visit a juice bar.  I recently had the chance to visit Flow Juice Bar (from the same owners of Max’s Wine Dive) and was seriously impressed.  After sitting down with Natalie and sampling from their menu of juices, smoothies and snacks I was hooked.  I especially love how they break everything down for you based on the benefits.  Everything from body and skin and mental health to detoxing and overall well being.

Mac X Proenza Schouler

mac x proenza

The Mac x Proenza Schouler collaboration came out today and, you know I love a good collaboration.  My only complaint so far is that there isn’t a whole makeup brush set because I am loving the gradient metallic finish.  My favorite so far has to be the ombre blush which is available in two colors, pink and coral.  I always have to try on lipsticks but they seem to have something for everyone a nude, a plum, a red and a pink.  Such an unexpected collaboration but I love when fashion and beauty mix.
